Decoy Country Park

A brilliant place for families, walkers and dogs alike, Decoy is in Newton Abbot, just off the A380. It’s clearly signed from the Penn Inn junction and if you keep Sainsbury’s on your left you’re nearly there. There is a pay and display car park but apart from that it’s free.

There’s a large lake with lots of ducks – feed can be purchased from the refreshment kiosk. There are paths to take you round the lake with play equipment and fallen logs and streams to play in and on as you go.

There is a fantastic park that will keep children of all ages happy for hours with a huge array of equipment. There are plenty of benches and picnic tables to sit at, including some under shelter. In the warmer months there is a large splash zone with jets, paddle areas and sprinklers – true joy on a sunny day!

There are bins, dog bins and toilets (of the ‘use if you really have to’ variety!) and a kiosk selling hot drinks/ice creams but it’s not open all the time. A large Sainsbury’s and McDonald’s are only round the corner, and Newton Abbot town centre and a large Asda are 5 minutes drive away.
