The Sentry, Moretonhampstead

A perfectly placed park! The views from The Sentry are incredible and time spent here always leaves me feeling happier with the world! It’s apprently called The Sentry as it was The Sanctuary field due to it’s proximity to the church. I feel that it’s position suits it’s name as a place to ‘look out’ from too though.

There are 2 pay and display car parks in Moretonhampstead and both are within easy walking distance of the park which is easy to find as it’s behind the church. The centre of Moreton has lots of shops and eateries and toilets in the car parks.

The park is full of fantastic new equipment suitable for all ages and there’s enough to keep children busy for a good while. The park is clearly visible from the rest of the field so it’s perfect for walking the dog while the kids play.

There is a picnic table, and acres of grassy space to put down a blanket for a picnic. Bring a ball, kite, bikes etc – there;s room to do whatever takes your fancy!

If you want to have more of a walk and a paddle in a stream, head through either of the wooden kissing gates into the next field and follow the central clear path. This will take you down the hillside via the least steep (though still steep, wear good shoes/boots) route.

At the bottom, you can head over the stile on your right to have a paddle and play in a shallow stream.

If you return to the path after this and continue on, the footpath takes you along the bottom of the fields. Ignore the next right hand stile and follow the path to its end at a gate. here you will join a lane which you can follow back into the centre.
