Magical Teatime Stories at Elsie May’s

As part of Tiverton Literary FestivalElsie May’s Café advertised a series of teatime storytelling events. When tickets became available (£7.50/child) at short notice, I couldn’t resist as it sounded just up my girls’ street, and we were not disappointed.

Elsie May’s is a family run, vintage style café situated in Tiverton, with car parking very close by (at the library). It was beautifully decorated for the events with brightly coloured bunting and child sized furniture for all the party ‘guests’.

Stories were told in Elsie May’s Parlour – a comfortable den, brightly decorated to tie in with the chosen books. There were lots of props and interactive activities to hold the children’s attention and help the stories come to life.

Party tea was provided with a lovely buffet of treats laid out for the children to help themselves to. Adults could pre order an impressive high tea  (it looked amazing) or buy hot drinks and cakes while the children were being entertained.

The stories and themed activities carried on after everyone had eaten and a special guest even arrived at the end (a genuine surprise for the children!) to round the afternoon off.

We had a brilliant time and are so glad to have discovered such a lovely place. There are more events and activities planned so we will definitely be back!
