If you’re looking for a great place to get close to nature, want to see some ducks, kick some leaves and have a good walk then Bystock Nature Reserve is great!
There is a free car park on the North side (with sea views) and on road parking at the reservoir end – both are reached off the Woodbury to Budleigh road. The OS map reference is SY 033 844.
If you want to take a pushchair or wheelchair then there is an accessible footpath at the reservoir end.
The heathland in the middle and around the pools is dense and rough with narrow paths so not suitable for pushchairs or small children but there are higher paths and open spaces perfect for shorter legs. Dogs are allowed all over the reserve but must stay on a lead.
There are no toilets and the nearest refreshments are Exmouth/Budleigh/Woodbury or Lympstone.
Saved by donations by local people in response to an Devon Wildlife Trust (please consider membership!) appeal last year, it’s now open for everyone to enjoy. It really is a very special place πΏπ°
For more information from DWT about the reserve, please read here.
I love the look of this place. Looks peaceful and calming. I hope to visit one day as a newbie to Devon!
