Witness Moor, East Devon

Witness Moor Woodlands are situated in the Blackdown Hills AONB and are found high above Honiton with far reaching views to Dartmoor and Exmoor. To get to the main car park and the start of 2 waymarked trails, you take the Cullompton road from Honiton, and after driving through Awliscombe, turn right at Hembury Fort Cross up a steep lane with Hembury Hill Fort on your right, and the car park is near the top on the left (grid reference 115037).

The car park is large and free and contains an information board and there is a picnic area nearby. You can follow the trails in either direction as both start and finish at the car park.

While neither route is particularly long, there are lots of play opportunities on the way round, with a selection of Heath-Robinson rope swings on the various slopes and benches and view points from which to enjoy the stunning scenery all around.

If you want to extend your walk, you can cross the road from the car park to Hembury Hill Fort and explore the beech woodlands and ramparts there too.
