1) Ellerhayes Activity Tree
One of our favourite places for a family walk, as it great for children and dogs alike, the Activity Tree above Ellerhayes Bridge is a brilliant playground made form natural materials. The views are far reaching so you feel like you’re swinging at the top of the world!
If you want a longer wal, you could venture into Ellerhayes Woods too.
2) Cranbrook Country Park
Cranbrook Country Park is a brilliant space with lots of different areas to explore. As well as the fantastic network of paths that make it a great place to visit with scooters, bike and buggies, it has a set of ponds with ducks and lots of wooded areas too.
There are 2 rope swings, one on either side of the main road. The one in the station side is better for smaller children, whereas the one near the picnic areas has a danger element as you cross the Cranny Brook!
3) Danes Wood
Danes Wood is one of our all time favourite walking woods. The free car park, easy circular walk, fallen logs and of course, swing, make it it perfect for getting everyone outside and active.
4) White Cross, Ottery St Mary
White Cross is a hidden gem, up above Ottery St Mary and Sidmouth. The ripe swing here feels like it’s on top of the world but is only minutes form the free car park and stunning view point!
