White Cross, East Hill

White Cross Car Park is located at the very end of East Hill Strips. Found by following the Sidmouth Road out of Ottery St Mary towards Putts Corner, and following the signs to your right into East Hill Strips. The car park is located at the very end of the road.

Managed by the Forestry Commission, this area of woodland joins up with Core Hill, managed by the Woodland Trust, and Fire Beacon Hill, managed by East Devon. You can read more about our previous adventures in this area here and here. This car park is a good starting point for walks taking in all 3!

The views from the car park are just stunning, and there is a bench at the best view point so you can really sit and take it all in.

Footpaths lead in all directions, but our favourite is a short walk to a brilliant rope swing. Found by facing the view and taking the footpath on your left that keeps to the ridge of the hill, the swing is found just hidden but not far from the car park.

For longer walks to take in Core Hill and Fire Beacon Hill, head directly away from the car park with the view behind you.
