Occombe Farm is a lovely spot, free to park and free to enter, with animals to see, a nature trail and a fab cafe.
There are lots of picnic benches and spots, a toilet block and loads of space to play plus an old tractor to climb on. Sadly the wooden play equipment is no longer in situ, but we used the extra running around space well!
This half term there is a fairy door trail to follow. There is a charge of £2.50 per trail sheet, and this includes an edible prize on completion. (Nb – While Enchanted Occombe is on the usual nature trail is not open).
We were given our trail sheets and set off to help find the clues the pixies, fairies and elves were keeping behind their little doors. The children loved reading each one and working out the clues!
The trail, which is buggy friendly, took us past animals, through woodland and to the bird hide, so we could fully explore. The children loved finding a ginats ‘birds’ nest’ big enough for children to sit in, and watching lots of wildlife come to the feeders.
We also spotted some frogspawn in the ponds and plan to come back to spot the tadpoles!
Mystery solves, we headed to claim our prize treats and enjoy a hot chocolate in the cafe.
