The Wall in the Hall at Old Heathcote School Community Centre, Tiverton.

We first visited this excellent climbing centre when we took part in the 5×50 Challenge a couple of years ago, and we had a brilliant family tuition session with the wall and instructor to ourselves.

This holiday, there was a special promotion running for children to climb for £2.50, so we booked the children and their friends in as a group and headed out to Tiverton.

The climbing centre is part of a large community centre with a huge range of activities taking place, and a great little cafe with outdoor space. Parking here is monitored but free to users of the climbing and community facilities.

At the back of the Community Centre is Westexe Park, with large open spaces, a paddling pool (in season) and lovely play area.

The children absolutely loved their hour on the wall – they were shown how to belay for each other and to wor as a team to get each other safely up – and down! – the various routes on the walls.

The Wall in the Hall runs various courses, open events and taster sessions at very reasonable prices – we would highly recommend.
